ENRAGED RAHUL DUBS MODI A HITLER!
Wednesday, 12 March 2014 | Nayan Dave | BALASINOR (Central Gujarat)

Launching a blistering attack on NDA’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi at Balasinor in Central Gujarat, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi compared Modi to Hitler on Tuesday. The comparison invited a sharp rebuttal from the BJP.
While addressing a well-attended public meeting, Gandhi compared Modi’s style of leadership with that of Hitler. Without naming the Gujarat Chief Minister, Rahul said there were two kinds of leaders — one like Mahatma Gandhi and the other like Hitler.
“The first type like Mahatma Gandhi belongs to those who go among the people, have some ideology and believe in the knowledge of the people. He goes to them, asks them and learns from them. The thinking of this kind of leader is that it is the people who are repository of knowledge. Such a leader wants to understand people and has no pride,” Rahul said .
“Then there is another kind of leader, whose best example is perhaps Hitler. Hitler thought there was no need to go to the people. He believed that he had the entire knowledge of the world. That kind of leader only says that he did this and that. That leader does not require to go to the people,” he said.
Affronted by the comparison, senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu blasted Rahul for the Hitler remark. Addressing a Press conference in Bangalore, the BJP leader blamed the Congress for bringing public discourse to the lowest level. “It is an absurd allegation. The Congressmen are indeed the followers of Hitler. Congress is the party which imposed Emergency and put behind bars thousands of leaders.”
Naidu also came down heavily on Rahul Gandhi for linking RSS with the murder of Mahatma Gandhi. “They are killing Gandhi day in and day out by murdering his principles,” Venkaiah Naidu said. After calling the BJP PM nominee Hitler, Rahul took another dig at Modi, who has pitched himself as the chowkidar (watchman) of the people. Rahul said the people of India didn’t require a watchman who snatched away the land of farmers for industrialists.
The Nehru-Gandhi scion was referring to Modi’s election speech in which the Gujarat Chief Minister pitched himself as the ‘chowkidar’ who will protect the country’s treasury if made Prime Minister. The 43-year-old Congress leader said that his party wanted to empower people of India to become guards of their own. “What kind of ‘Chowkidari’ is this to take away lakhs of acres of land from farmers and give it to industrialists? This is nothing but theft,” he added.
Rahul Gandhi also said that they (Modi and BJP) are constructing Sardar Patel’s statue, but they should first read about him. “Those who are constructing the statue have an RSS background,” he said adding they should know that Sardar termed the RSS ideology as ‘poisonous’. Training his guns on the saffron brigade he asserted that unlike his party, BJP didn’t have any ideology but only anger and only wanted to give anger to the people.
“Sardar Patel and Mahatma Gandhi were from Gujarat. They gave their entire life for the Congress. There were not mere individuals but ideology. What was that ideology? It was to connect India and fight against the British,” he said adding that they want to decimate the Congress, which was formed with ideology of Mahatma and Sardar. Attacking Rahul for his reported remarks that Modi lacked knowledge on Sardar Patel, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad told a Press conference that a lot of “false history” is being projected by Rahul Gandhi and the Congress.
“It is time to ask a proper question from Congress and its leaders in general and Rahul Gandhi in particular about a fact of history. Why did Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi as prime ministers, not confer Bharat Ratna on Sardar Patel and Maulana Azad? Both were great Indians fully deserving Bharat Ratna,” he said. He said it was the Narasimha Rao Government which conferred Bharat Ratna on Patel and Azad.
“Rao was the Prime Minister outside the family and is rarely even talked about by Congress party. BJP would like Rahul Gandhi to reply as to why Sardar Patel and Maulana Azad were discriminated against,” he said.
Accusing BJP for taking ownership of the Congress Government’s initiatives, Rahul said that when the computer was introduced in the country by Rajiv Gandhi and Sam Pitroda, then top BJP leaders opposed it and expressed fear that it would took away job opportunities from the youth and increase unemployment. “However, a decade back their leader Pramod Mahajan promoted Information Technology. Now they say who brought computer revolution, he said adding that he wouldn’t be surprised if BJP would take ownership of the UPA Government’s initiatives like NAREGA or Right to Food after a decade.
