‘Fed up with UPA Govt, people await winds of change’
Raising issues of corruption, inflation and scams in the Congress-led UPA Government, BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi said that compared to past Lok Sabha elections, the 2014 elections are the most awaited by the common man. No previous Government was hated by the people of this country as much as the UPA Government, said the Gujarat CM at a function organised in Gandhinagar to mark his 64th birthday.
“During the scorching summer, people would generally wish the hot days must pass as quickly as possible and pray for monsoon to arrive soon. Just like that common people of India want the UPA Government to go earliest and desperately waiting for the winds of change,” said Modi, while addressing a jam-packed Gandhinagar town hall.
There was a time when  people used to discuss about elections only after nomination forms filled by the candidates, he said, adding that but people have fed up with the present Union Government so much that they are desperately waiting for elections in order to throw the Congress out of power.
Taking potshots at disappearing of coal scam files, Modi said not only the files are missing but the entire Union Government has lost. “The new generation is asking question, where is Delhi in map? In the past people used to believe that Delhi has Government that rules India, but current situation gives feeling that there is no Government in this country,” he added.
He said that he had never celebrated his birthday before, but because of the new responsibility (PM candidate) given to him, people wanted to meet him and as a result he is celebrating birthday for the first time. “Apart from my birthday, today is ‘Vishwakarma Jayanti’. The day is also being celebrated by artisans like carpenter, blacksmith and others. We should learn to respect their skills. Besides, on September 17, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel freed Hyderabad from Nizam. Today, Hyderabad is also celebrating freedom,” said the Gujarat CM.

Religious leaders from all the communities including Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims and Christians remained present at the function. Besides, members of Royal families of erstwhile princely States, cricketers and office-bearers of Gujarat Cricket Association, members of Gujarat Bar Council as well as Bar Council of India, leading doctors of the State, artists, ex-Armymen, Members of Parliament elected from Gujarat and a large number of BJP workers were present. A group of youngsters from Andhra under the banner of Narendra Modi fan club came to greet and attended the function too.
