BEGINNING OF NEW ERA, SAYS MODI
Saturday, 17 May 2014 | Nayan Dave | VADODARA/ AHMEDABAD

The Prime Minister designated Narendra Modi on Friday said that the 16th general elections have laid foundation for new era of modern India, which would be focused on development and good governance.
Addressing the nation after thumping victory of BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Modi in two back to back public gatherings in Vadodara and Ahmedabad said that before that Independence people used to die for nation, but now it is the time to live work for the development of country.
Advocating the concept of ‘inclusive growth’, the Gujarat Chief Minister said that there is no enemy in politics and he would like to take every one even the rival political parties along in order to run the country. “You have competitors in politics and it is healthy sign for democracy,” he added.
Taking a dig on his rivals he said that those who used to criticized Gujarat’s ‘Development Model’ had to talk about development of other parts of the country to compare his State’s development. Terming himself magician, Modi said generally, during the Lok Sabha elections ruling party set agenda, but n this elections the agenda of development was set by BJP and the Congress couldn’t understand how to react or respond on it.
“Development is the only agenda which can save the country. It is the remedy of all the problems. We want to make development movement for 125 crore Indians for the next decade. If it would happen, 21st century will belong to India,” he said hinting that he had moved to Delhi for long term planning. Giving an example of famous slogan ‘Ab ki Bar Modi Sarkar’ in a lighter note, he said that even 2-year old children used to sing that slogan, which means a brigade is being prepared for next 16-18 years, to support his development and good governance agenda.
Making a mockery of the Congress led UPA government; Modi said that many political pundits termed the clear mandate to BJP as anti-establishment votes. “One would get anti-establishment votes, if there is any establishment. Since last one decade there was no establishment, but only vacuum was there. People have voted positively to BJP with a hope and trust that his party would do something for the country and give good stable government.
Identifying himself as hard worker, Modi said that even his opponents reckon his ability to work hard and he had proved during the last 8-10 months of tireless election campaign. He claimed that during his tenure as the Gujarat Chief Minister he has not taken single day’s vacation. “The country would not get a Mazdoor No. 1 like me,” he said in a lighter note.
He said that this is for the first time people of India gave clear majority to a party other than Congress, which in itself is a history. “It became possible because BJP fought the elections on development plank and good governance issues. Even the previous non-Congress governments led by Vajpayee, Chandrashekhar, V.P Singh, I.K. Gujarat and Deve Gowda didn’t get clear mandate from the people” he added.
