As the BJP Campaign Committee chief Narendra Modi is all set to kick-start campaign nationally, the Gujarat BJP is in the process to shift its headquarters from Ahmedabad to strategically-located Koba circle near Gandhinagar. The new building will be one of the swankiest BJP offices in the country.

Though the new three-storey building is still under construction, the top brass of the Gujarat BJP would perform puja on the auspicious day of Ashadhi Bij on July 10. “Construction work of the building has almost completed. Very shortly furniture and electric work will be initiated. We expect to move into the new office building well before the Lok Sabha elections,” a BJP source said.

The sprawling Gujarat BJP headquarters is being constructed on 12,000 sq yd land. The Gujarat Chief Minister’s penchant for technology would also reflect in the new hi-tech building. Apart from Wi-Fi and video-conferencing facilities, it would have comfortable waiting lounge, media room, separate chambers for important State office-bearers including BJP leaders in the Gujarat Assembly, electronic notice boards, digital sound systems etc.

A fully air-condition auditorium having capacity of 400 people will be the part of the sprawling campus. Besides, there would be five conference halls with capacity ranging from 15 to 50 persons.

The current BJP headquarters is situated in crowded Khanpur area, which is in the middle of the city, said a BJP leader associated with the new building project.

“The current headquarters is haphazardly developed. Thirty years back it started with just two rooms. Gradually more adjoining spaces were purchased. As there is no allotted parking area, we are facing lots of problems in parking. The party needs to hire places for in-house training and workshops, arranging Press conferences and other important meetings.

Even party leaders coming from other States as well as from within the Gujarat are many times stuck-up in traffic jams,” he added.

The new party headquarters is just 10 km from Ahmedabad airport and around 20 km from Ahmedabad and 10 km from Gujarat Secretariat. It falls on the approach roads from North Gujarat, South Gujarat and Saurashtra region.
