Modi to address over 500 3D rallies from next month
Apart from 185 public rallies across the length and breadth of country as part of his poll-campaign strategy, NDA’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is all set to rock more than 500 virtual public meetings using ‘3D Holographic Projection’ technique, from next month onwards.
Sources in the BJP said that during the election campaign of Gujarat Assembly in December 2012, the Gujarat Chief Minister did nearly 180 such virtual public meetings which were popularised as ‘3D rallies’. The virtual rallies of Modi generated lots of interest amongst the people. Later on Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh also utilised this technique to reach out to more people.
According to a senior BJP leader in Gujarat, the idea is to organise at least one 3D rally in each Lok Sabha constituency. Such virtual rallies would be arranged simultaneously in multiple locations. During Gujarat Assembly elections it struck the chord with people in different constituencies simultaneously.
“Candidates of BJP and allies parties are demanding at least one public meeting of Modiji, but it is practically not possible for a single person to reach everywhere. Availability of holography projection technique would help to solve this problem,” he said.
A studio has already been created in the State capital Gandhinagar. Modi would deliver his speeches for virtual rallies from the studio which will be connected with multiple locations through satellite. The rallies would be organised in such a way that people would feel that Modi himself arrived at the venue and delivering speech to them. Even content for the speech would be tailor made specifically to the targeted constituency or region.
In the Gujarat election, Modi had addressed 53 rallies simultaneously, but in the case of Lok Sabha elections, NaMo would be seen even more locations simultaneously.  People ranging from 10,000 to 30,000 remained present at each locations.
Sources connected with the technology said that ‘3D Holographic Technology’ first received attention worldwide in 2008 when Prince Charles addressed the World Future Energy Summit and made his first appearance as a hologram in a bid to reduce the royal carbon footprint. A six-minute address of Prince Charles was recorded in the drawing room of his Clarence house earlier. In past, American leader Al Gore launched Live Earth Tokyo in a virtual way – as a hologram using Holographic Projection.

As per the details available online, the images used are three-dimensional images, but projected as two-dimensional images into a 3D stage set, therefore the mind of the audience create the 3D illusion. This means that production costs are minimal, needing only the single camera lens for filming and a single projector for the playback – hence the phrase ‘Glasses-free viewing’.
