RAJKOT: Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein was hanged to death on Saturday, but his look-alike Bharat Amalani, 47, is going great guns in Rajkot, albeit on the tennis court.Amalani, a businessman dealing in raw wool, not only looks like Saddam Hussein but has also been nicknamed 'Saddam' by his kith and kin. Ever since the Iraqi leader conquered Kuwait in 1990, Amalani, with almost the same height and thick moustache, has been known as 'Saddam' among his acquaintances. But this Saddam's battlefield is the tennis court and his artillery consists of blazing serves and volleys against his opponents. If Saddam Hussein's entire family was the Iraqi government and army, then Rajkot's Saddam's entire family is into the game of tennis. His sons Rohan and Ronak, brothers Vijay, Mohan as well as cousin Vinod and nephews Kavish and Karan are all not only good tennis players but have also won numerous championships at state and regional levels. This Saddam is an equally disciplined personality like the original one, a regular at Kahtiavad Gymkhana tennis courts every morning. Amalani, who is also the tennis secretary of the Gymkhana, says, "Saddam was a great warrior and his leadership was equally remarkable. His fighting spirit and determination are the qualities which inspired me. These qualities are very helpful in games like tennis and cricket."However, he does not endorse the Saddam's decision to attack Kuwait. Amalani's friend, Raju Vyas says, "Bharat is fond of throwing parties at his farmhouse like a monarch. For a decade-and-a-half, he has been known as Saddam in our circle." https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/ahmedabad/Look-alike-of-Saddam-going-great-guns/articleshow/1002334.cms
